I don't wish to know that

I hadn’t realized that phrase had been around for quite so long, nor that it may have a higher-status provenance than I realized. But here on the Goon Show episode “Lurgi Strikes Britain,” originally broadcast on 9 November 1954, we hear the following dialogue:

“In 1296 on the Isle of Ewe—”

“Where?”

“Isle of Ewe.”

“I love you too. Shall we dance?”

“I don’t wish to know that.”
