Eleven-thirty at night—you'd think it'd cool off. The only downside of our lovely house is that it has radiator heat, so installing central air would be prohibitively expensive. We've put a window air-conditioner in the upstairs sun-porch so that it and our two bedrooms will be cool, but in the rest of the house we must make do with open windows and fans. It's bloody hot. Hot I say. I'm going to have to go upstairs and hide in the air-conditioning, maybe read a book; I cannot stay down here at the computer right now. I'll try again later.

we have radiators and central air... sort of
Our house is "cooled" by two vents, each lead down to the first floor by vents that hide in two of the bedroom closets. It kind of works, and it's better than the previous situation, when the house was cooled by the air vents from the attic to the bedroom ceilings of which there are 3.

Keeping the shades drawn makes a big difference at our house.

More window units = more cool places.

I feel very lucky to have been able to get a laptop, so I can take the computer with me to the cool spots.

It's still surreal and uncomfortable to find that in the short space of time it takes to brush one's teeth or fix a sandwich, one becomes completely drenched with sweat and wants to lie down for an hour.

Better on Tuesday night, they're saying.

We also have radiators, and while the cost of adding AC is high, it has been coming down to something more reasonable. Our neighbors had it done two years ago and have no regrets. We are still waiting, though. We have a nice window unit on the 1st floor that does a good job of cooling the whole downstairs...if we have a crowd it gets a tad warm but not unbearably. We have units in several of the other rooms, but not in our bedroom. We keep our door open if it is really hot and take in the AC from Steves office and Devon's room.

From inside the house, I could see the sunflower reaching it's head towards the morning sun, so high, it was up as high as our semi-circle kitchen windows.
I was thinking; I wish I knew how to take a picture of this. I bet YOOOOOOUUUUUUU could!! :-) I hope you and your camera forgive eachother and become better friends than ever. I love to see your photos from the past... but once your relationships (from all branches of your life) are healed and strong again - I bet the pictures will be better than ever. :-)
