Reality Check

I ran this past jbru who agreed with my thesis, so I'm throwing the question open to y’all. It seems to me that in his review of Art Spiegelman’s In the Shadow of No Towers, Douglas Wolk of The Washington Post actually undermines his argument with his example:

[Art Spiegelman is] venting in all directions rather than making a point, and his jokes are pure lead. Directed by a Homeland Security “Red, White and Blue Alert,” for instance, Spiegelman buries his head under a flag. “I should feel safer under here, but—damn it!—I can’t see a thing!” he exclaims.

Nu?
