Re: I like it
Thank you! Need I say I like it too?

What is it?

And I like light and shadows in the picture very much.

Too much, even? As when seeing something appealing in general tempts me to try to do something similar, if the quality is too high, then the result can feel prohibiting for my own attempts.

I have noticed something that could be compared in my younger children. Very often the children did not even try to copy me, but learned when attempting to copy their older brother (who was also a learner, just a bit more advanced one).

IIRC the proper term for this is coupler.

To expand on what maruad said, it is the thingie on the end of a railroad car that attaches two cars together. The hose on the right is the line for the air brakes—it is attached to the matching hose on the other car. It is perhaps easier to recognize in context:

I'm glad you like it. You are recognizing what I feel is one of my strengths as a photographer—the awareness and use of light and shadow. I think that is at least in part a result of having worked a lot in black & white, which is a much more graphic medium than color.

In addition to that, what I especially like about this image is the way the scarring and rust on the face of the coupler gives it an appearance that reminds me of a Jackson Pollock painting.

Hm. I understand what you are saying about finding it daunting, but I encourage you to give it a go. I had to pump a lot of film through my camera before I had any idea what I was doing.

Re: I like it, too!
Thanks! I like when I can do "feel good." Warm inside.
