Long Ago and Not That Far Away ...

An outdoor multi-act rock concert in St Paul, Minnesota. I think it was 1970, but I was there so I don't remember…

It was at the old baseball stadium in St Paul (Midway Stadium?) located on the east side of Snelling Avenue—where Energy Park is today. Very close to where I work. Dave "Snaker" Ray and Tony "Little Son" Glover were there as M'sC, although I don't recall them performing. I could easily be wrong about that. Memory being what it is and the 60's being what they were I won't swear to anything … but I think this was the line-up:

Teagarden & Van Winkle
Little Richard
Long John Baldrey
Mother Earth
It's a Beautiful Day
The Almond Brothers Band
Poco

It's A Beautiful Day

Now that takes me back. I saw them at a Festival in Atlanta in the summer of 1970.

I'm guessing you really meant Allman Brothers Band, although I would not be too surprised to find that there was an Almond Brothers Band.

Awww, nuts! Of course it was the Allman Brothers Band! That's what I get for trying to just rattle off the list off the top of my head…

You got to see Long John Baldry AND It's a Beautiful Day? I worship the ground you walk on! Well to an extent I already did, but hey..
As far as memory I think it was Robin Williams line "If you remember the 60's, You weren't there." For me it was the 70's, but close enough. I have a question. Is there any chance you and the darling lady you are married to could be enticed out to dinner sometime soon? I miss you both and it's been an order of magnitude too long (mostly my own fool fault) since we've spent more than con-moments-in-passing.

Wow, all the long, straight hair parted down the middle. :D It's actually a very soothing image for me, because I was born in '70 and that's what everyone around me looked like. :)
