Blast from the past! It's amazing how much things have changed and how much they have stayed the same!

Huh? You've been to alces2's old apartment in the Haight? Oh! You're talking about the changes (and/or lack thereof) in me! Heh. Yeah, I guess you're right. As Spinal Tap says in one of their songs, "The less things change, the more they stay the same." The beard and my hair are no longer anywhere near that dark (they're returning to more-or-less the colour my hair was when I was born), my current glasses look somewhat but not greatly different, I've got a new camera (and the new 20mm lens isn't as good as the old one—I'm thinking of spending way too much money to have the old one cleaned and retrofitted), I now habitually wear t-shirts instead of oxford-cloth shirts, and I've put on way too many pounds, but other than that … yeah, pretty much the same. And very different. What you said.

Wow, that's pretty awesome.

Thanks! Yeah, I sort of enjoy the way I "violated the rules" by using the strong, unbroken verticals to give the effect of a triptych or even a tetraptych. And the usual light-and-shadow stuff I work with a lot that can be especially fun in a projected slide (and doesn't entirely loose its efficacy when viewed on a computer monitor). And, you know, the fact that I'm central to it but not necessarily dominant (and not necessarily not dominant—I do serve to "anchor" it; to pull everything together). I've always liked it.

Is that from Westercon 32? I seem to have a recollection of a music party from that one that lasted until the Sun came up the next day -- Ceiling, Drip! Drip! & etc.

Nope. As I mentioned above to jbru, it's alces2's old apartment in the Haight. But I do remember that Westercon quite fondly for any number of reasons, one of which being that music party, another being named Karen, and yet another being the Strange Introduction Incident in the Main Hallway which involved tnh and kate_schaefer. Not to mention that unearthly guy who just came from a phone call plinking randomly on the piano…

Hey, I remember that, er, dat guy!

Wow! fierce? Wow! Thank you much.

Btw, something I've always wondered, if you don't mind me asking: is your icon photo of you or is it an image you're fond of? Either way it's intriguing and I've always enjoyed it, but I've been wondering. Thanks.

Yeah, I know this comment is way late. It is nevertheless sincere.

Another awesome image. Wish I'd known you then. The photo led me to your albums and I spent an enjoyable evening perusing them. I must admit that I'm inordinately fond of the images of my darling daughter, tesla_aldrich, but others have delighted me also. Thanks for sharing. I may be wanting to purchase sometime after my upcoming move.
