Happy as a pig in a mud-patch

A year ago—six months ago even—I didnʼt know what the heck a “Business Consultant” was. Now I are one. And I still donʼt know what it is…

No need for confusion...

con-sult-ant. n. From "console" and "assault". First they give you the bad news of what's wrong with your business, then they console you, then they assault you with the bill.

All in all, it's a good deal... for the consultant. ;)

Congratulations fredcritter

Gee, in my experience consultants are generally hired by management to tell them what they want to hear so as to justify their actions and provide for possible blame transfer should things turn out poorly.

Much money is typically paid for this valuable service as clearly if it's expensive it MUST be good. So yes, they should pay you more!

Jeez, I thought it was from consul and insult. First they tell you "You need all new operating systems" Then they tell you none of your current employees are qualified to operate the new system. Hmmm...sorry i's jus clericl

That sounds like they should pay you more, so who the heck cares what it actually is!? :)

I spent a hellish year and a half in such a job. I wish you far better luck than I had.

Yeah, ever since I heard that there are now “information architect”s, I’ve been trying to find out what it is. So I can tell if I am one.
(My current joke business card lists:
database programmer
LAMP web programmer
information architect

Good luck!

Interesting. I wish you luck in this endeavor. Curiosity touches me at this moment and makes me wonder what business consultant conversations you will have. I have another friend who takes business managers on shamanic journeys, sweat lodges, things like that. Admittedly this is California businesses.
