An Experimental Photo from AppleCon 2008

This was one of the experimental photos I took at Applicon. I guess it sort of turned out to be a … different … approach to a panorama. (I think it works much better in the larger size so donʼt forget to click & look…)

(Iʼm home sick with tummy trouble today. Finally feel like sitting up for a few minutes before going back to the bathroom bed. TTFN!)

I like the way that ghostly figures and faces appear mixed in at various places.

Yep -- it's the Ghosts of Music Parties Present.

It's also utterly lively, in ways that traditional music party photos so rarely are. Lots of motion -- it's not a frozen-moment photograph.

I think pameladean got it right (in comment below) it looks a bit like a photograph of a moving carousel.

Yup. She is rather good with words, after all.

Cool! This is why Iʼve been getting so much enjoyment out of posting photos—yʼall are doing such a wonderful job of giving form and words to various interesting aspects of my work that I hadnʼt seen or hadnʼt been able to quite put my finger on. Wheeee!

Heh. I did think of ghostly presences of those still among us when I first saw it, but I think you nailed the precise wording. :)

Yes indeed. Me too.

That gives the term "music circle" a new -- not meaning, hmmm, expression. It's like a photo of a spinning carousel, which really does capture some of the effect of people going around the circle and playing songs in a single image.

Wow. "Music circle." Very nice, very nice. Certainly what I was doing and what it does; never would have thought of it myself. "Carousel." Nicer still. I give you images, you repay me with images. I purely love it!!!

Hee. I thought you did it on purpose. And, of course, on some level, you did.

I get this all the time with my books. People come up with these beautiful syntheses of elements that are really there and that emphasize what I did know what I was doing, but I hadn't intended their particular take at all.
