Things are still unsettled at work, but I've decided that we'll just have to figure out a way to make it all work out. I'll be getting in the car Wednesday morning and heading off for Chicago instead of for work. Heh. I plan to stay over a couple of nights in Chicago and visit and stuff and then leave, I dunno, probably some time early Friday morning for Detroit and Confusion. It helped that the Marriott still had rooms available (just finished making the reservation), even if they didn't think they'd have any with a king-size bed for me.
Part of the appeal of this trip is being able to get into the car, plug the iPod in to the [Monster iCarPlay FM Transmitter which will transmit the music to the] radio, select "shuffle", crank the volume, and head off down the road surrounded by tune after tune; even so, I should probably touch base with almeda and think about maybe giving her a lift on the Chicago-Detroit-Chicago leg if she still wants one.
Not every little detail has been firmly nailed down yet, but, hey, as Ms. Frizzle says, "It's time to take chances, make mistakes, and get messy." And, as the great poet Homer said: "Stupid risks are what make life worth living."
Um. Homer Simpson is one of the Great Poets … right?
