Photos in Deming Heights Park

So last Tuesday morning I had a breakfast date with a friend. It was not immediately after work, so I took my time driving on a rather scenic route over to the restaurant where we were to meet. As I was driving, I came upon this lovely little park—Deming Heights Park—and I decided to stop and take some photos. On first glance I’m rather pleased with the results, so I’m going to share them with you (with only a few of the least interesting and/or out of focus images removed). Of course, I haven’t done any “prettying up” on them yet, but you can still get the general idea.

I think the one you posted above is the best of the group, though I also like the composition of #9 quite a lot. Those two would be my choices... Good stuff!

Those railings are very cool; I find them a lot more interesting than the stairs—and the stairs seem inconveniently wide given that preference. I'd have been interested in seeing shots concentrating more on the railings, like 011-4, but from below, since I'm finding the shots looking upwards working better generally. 21 through 25 are my favorite group; but each one seems like something of a tradeoff, and none of them quite come together to hit all my buttons at once.

Love this shot! I'll have to check out the rest when I have more time.

I like the stair shots, especially the one above, but I couldn't say why if pressed.

ah, you've found my park! Or, one of them - Columbia Park, across Central Ave. from where you were shooting, is the other place I walk the dog these days and scout out photos.

Deming is hard to work with. You've done very well, love those steps. Remind me of various city steps back in Pittsburgh. I go for scenic panoramic views, but the only time you can get the full effect from the heights overlooking Northeast and North Minneapolis across the Mississippi, it's winter and too cold to be out and about. Come spring when everything goes green, you can no longer see through the trees. At least, I have yet to find a vantage point from up there. It looks like some of the private houses with upper floor decks across from the park might offer a shot... hmmm...
