A Very Beautiful Thing

Over in weirdjews citrinepoint has posted an absolutely breathtaking painting (along with a link to a flickr page with a larger version). Here's a thumb:

Go check it out, eh?

What's that? No, I don't know her. I just saw it and wanted to share the beauty. The thumb does it very little justice…

That is lovely. Those look like Hebrew characters to me. Are they and, if so, what do they translate to?

Thanks for sharing.

It says "k'lal Yisrael" o_O It means "the whole of the Jewish community." I think.

To say that my Hebrew isn't what it should be would be the understatement of the year, but I believe you to be correct. Thanks for helping out!

As graydown said. If you follow the inconspicuous link to citrinepoint's post in weirdjews [instead of the link under the thumbnail, which goes to the flickr site (sometimes I'm not too bright)], you can read her thoughts about the work.

You're most welcome. I had to share. It's what I'm about: sharing beauty wherever I find it whenever I can.

meaning update

Ooh. Just clicked over to her flickr site, where citrinepoint herself says:

K'lal Yisrael in Hebrew means something like...Jewish Unity. And when I was a kid in sunday school we sang a song called "Tree of Life" There's a line in it that goes "It is a Tree of Life to them that hold fast to it and all of it's supporters are happy."
I imagined that tree and how we all might be a leaf...each on our own branch but still part of the beautiful tree.

Pretty! The line work is very graceful.

'Tis you who rocks, not I! I only spread the word—you're the one who did the great artwork!
